Tao Te Ching Chapter 8: "The highest goodness is like water. Water benefits all things and does not contend; it dwells in places that many dislike — therefore it is near to the Dao."
Be good in where you dwell (choose lowly places), deep in heart (like an abyss), kind in relations (like benevolence), trustworthy in speech (like keeping promises), orderly in governance (like bringing peace), capable in action (like using ability), timely in movement (like knowing the moment).
Water nourishes all things without claiming credit, and settles where others disdain. This selfless, humble, non-contending character is closest to the Dao. People should be the same — capable but not boastful, helpful without expecting return.
