Liao Fan's Four Lessons (Liao Fan Si Xun) by Yuan LiaoFan (Ming Dynasty) is about changing destiny.
Young Yuan LiaoFan had his entire life predicted by a master: exam rank, official position, lifespan, no son. For 20 years everything came true. Then he met Master Yungu, who told him: destiny is made by yourself; blessings are sought by yourself.
LiaoFan began practicing virtue and self-reflection. The master's predictions all shifted: he had a son, achieved higher rank, lived longer.
Divination is reference, not sentence. Through virtue and reflection, people can change their fate. This is compatible with BaZi — the chart shows tendencies; choices and actions shape the outcome.
