How the BaZi wealth element works
Every Day Master (the stem of your day pillar) controls one of the five elements, and that controlled element is your wealth star (我克为财). The relationship follows the controlling cycle: Wood parts Earth, Earth dams Water, Water extinguishes Fire, Fire melts Metal, Metal chops Wood. Your wealth element therefore differs from your own element.
- Wood Day Master — wealth element is Earth (real estate, property, stable assets).
- Fire Day Master — wealth element is Metal (finance, machinery, metals, law).
- Earth Day Master — wealth element is Water (trade, logistics, consulting, flow of funds).
- Metal Day Master — wealth element is Wood (education, culture, design, retail, living things).
- Water Day Master — wealth element is Fire (energy, food, media, entertainment, visibility).
Strong Day Master vs weak Day Master
Traditional BaZi treats the Day Master as you. When it is strong (well supported by itself and its mother element), wealth stars are favorable — more opportunities can be carried and saved. When it is weak but surrounded by wealth stars, the classic image is a rich house with a poor tenant: money opportunities appear but slip away, earnings do not accumulate, and money-related stress drains energy. The remedy is to strengthen the self first — through partnerships, learning, and the favorable elements shown in the main calculator.
Wealth pillars and timing
Beyond the static wealth element, BaZi looks at luck pillars (大运) that cycle through ten-year periods. Wealth arrives most comfortably during pillars that either support a weak Day Master or add the favorable element to a strong one.
