Chinese metaphysics, explained honestly
Chinese astrology and fate-analysis are ancient, beautiful systems for reflecting on temperament and timing — not fortune-telling in the modern sense. Three strands overlap, and this site keeps them clearly separated:
- Chinese Zodiac (生肖) — the twelve animals. It comes from just one of your eight characters: the Year Branch. Great for culture and yearly fun, but the shallowest layer.
- Five Elements (Wu Xing) (五行) — Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. The element cycle drives everything: personality, seasons, colors, and how two people rub each other (or light each other up).
- BaZi (八字, Eight Characters) — the full system. Four pillars built from your exact birth date and time. Its center is the Day Master, read against the other seven characters through the five elements and the Ten Gods.

Frequently asked questions
Is this fortune telling?
It is the traditional Chinese framework for personality and timing — use it for self-reflection, decisions and cultural insight. We treat results as mirrors, not verdicts, and always add a plain-English explanation.
Why does the birth time matter?
BaZi's eight characters include an Hour Pillar set by the two-hour block of your birth. Without a time we assume noon, which is an estimate. Different-school boundaries (23:00 vs midnight, Lichun vs Chinese New Year) are all flagged on the pages.
Are the calculations accurate?
The engine uses the standard lunar-calendar mathematics (the same widely used open-source library as the Chinese tools) with no arbitrary adjustments. If you already have a chart from a reputable reader, the pillars should match.
